And one for the road for those of you who can't get enough of state politics -- More discussion on state House and Senate races.

Dave Williams has a good article on our state House and Senate races in an article entitled "General Assembly readies for historic election year" in the 9-12-04 gdp.

The 9-9-04 post entitled "Gold Dome Contests -- Update from the pro's" quotes Bill Shipp as saying the "Democrats [have] a comfortable majority of 99 or 98 seats" in the 2004 House elections.

Mr. Williams notes that Rep. Calvin Smyre, Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, "has done some number crunching of his own. He says Democrats, who now hold 102 seats, should be able to withstand an expected Republican surge and emerge with a slimmed-down majority of 95 to 98 seats."

Now let's see, looking at these close calls by both Shipp and Smyre makes me think . . . have I used the expression what came first, the chicken or the egg recently . . . I think I have.

Joking of course, the Chairman is another pro. He is like the Dean. If he says it, you can take it to the bank.

The article is a good read.
