Illegal Immigration Overtones -- Perdue Signs Measure Increasing Penalties For Operating A Vehicle Without A License
From InsiderAdvantage Georgia:
After a two-year effort, a bill increasing the penalties for those who operate a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license or on a suspended or revoked license has become law. Gov. Sonny Perdue signed SB 350 on Wednesday.
The measure makes the first offense a misdemeanor with up to two days imprisonment possible. Any second or third offense within five years would be a misdemeanor of a high and aggravated nature with at least 10 days imprisonment and a fine of at least $1,000. A fourth or subsequent offense within five years would be treated as a felony.
