When Gov. Barnes speaks, Georgians listen. I wish Hillary would. -- Former Gov. Roy Barnes says Hillary Clinton should quit presidential race.

Former Gov. Roy Barnes on Thursday joined a chorus of Democratic Party leaders who say Hillary Clinton should exit the presidential race.

"I think for the good of the party, she needs to come out," Barnes said in an interview at a Savannah Democratic fundraising event.

"Barack Obama is the nominee," he said of the frontrunner . . . .

Jim Galloway of the AJC's Political Insider observes that this statement from Gov. Barnes, an ardent [my word] supporter of John Edwards, came a day after Edwards endorsed Obama.
