The DNC is under pressure to resolve issue & Obama campaign signals it would be amenable to a 2nd round of nominating contests in Michigan & Florida.

From The Wall Street Journal:

[N]early all mathematical projections of potential election results in the remaining contests show that Sen. Obama will maintain the delegate lead. That reality is reigniting an argument supported by the Clinton campaign that delegates from Michigan and Florida should be seated at the convention. The Democratic National Committee stripped both states of their delegates after they violated party rules last year and scheduled primaries ahead of the Feb. 5 date set by the party.

Sen. Clinton won both Michigan and Florida, but Sen. Obama's name did not appear on the Michigan ballot and neither candidate campaigned in Florida. The Obama campaign strictly opposes any effort to seat those delegates -- a position held by many senior Democratic Party officials. Any effort to seat them retroactively is widely viewed as a move that could fracture the Democratic Party.

The DNC is under pressure to resolve the matter before the convention, and the Obama campaign has signaled it would be amenable to a second round of nominating contests in the two states.

"This is an issue for the Democratic National Committee," Obama strategist David Axelrod said. "We'd love to see a resolution to that and we will work with whatever resolution that is."
