Illegal Immigrants Are Bolstering Social Security With Billions.
As the debate over Social Security heats up, the estimated seven million or so illegal immigrant workers in the U.S. are now providing the system with a subsidy of as much as $7 billion a year, although they won't be entitled to the benefits.
If you consider this as good news, then is there any bad news? Yep. According to The New York Times (4-5-05), the money paid by illegal workers and their employers is factored into all the Social Security Administration's projections.

I'm glad you wrote a post on this. I read the article in the paper this morning and thought it was interesting.
I'm not a big supporter of illegal immigration, but I also disagree with the people who complain that illegal immigrants are just free-loaders who don't contribute anything in taxes. Obviously they are contributing to the system--and (rightly or wrongly) are actually getting fewer benefits from their contributions.
