BRAC Commission Members named by Bush; General from Georgia left off final list.
The 4-2-05 New York Times reports:
President Bush announced on Friday that by making recess appointments he had completed creation of a nine-member independent commission to review the Pentagon's list of proposed base closings this year.
The White House made one change to the list of nominees it sent to the Senate on March 15: Gen. Lloyd W. Newton, who is retired from the Air Force, replaced Lt. Gen. Claude M. Kicklighter, who is retired from the Army.
_______________
The only reason I am posting this is to note that Gen. Kicklighter was expected to be on the BRAC Commission. I very much regret that something has happened in the past couple of weeks to change this. Gen. Kicklighter is from Georgia.
