She seems to be trying to talk the talk; I'm willing to assume she is going to try to walk the walk. -- A moderate Cynthia McKinney comes to debate.
Excerpts from Mae Gentry's ajc write-up on the 4th Congressional District Ga. Press Club debate:
McKinney said that, if elected, she could work effectively across party lines: "I have worked with a Republican-dominated Congress in the past."
McKinney's donors are divided almost evenly between local and out-of-town supporters.
They include former United Nations ambassador and Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young, human rights activist Coretta Scott King, lawyers, doctors, educators, business owners and preachers. She got $2,000 from the Arab American Leadership, $5,000 from the Congressional Black Caucus and nearly $30,000 from unions.
In the debate Sunday night, McKinney said she was ready to mend relations with Republicans and Jewish voters, but she said she would remain true to her values.
