Dismissal with prejudice of Jane Bradshaw and Melanie Goux from Rashad Richey lawsuit

On Monday Jim Galloway of the AJC's Political Insider  reported:

Rashad Richey, political director of the Georgia Democratic Party, on Monday filed a dismissal of his libel suit against Andre Walker, author of the Georgia Politics Unfiltered, for allegedly mischaracterizing Richey’s criminal record.

Don’t get terribly excited. Richey’s attorneys characterized the action as “dismissal without prejudice,” which leaves open the possibility that it could be re-filed. Moreover, the dismissal does not include the operator of Blog for Democracy, which recycled some of the information posted by Walker.

I think Mr. Galloway knows that few got excited -- terribly or otherwise -- one way or the other about such news and its subject.

But his report did make me wonder about the status of my friend Mel.

Now I do have some good news to report, and this news comes with what we call "prejudice," meaning it is over and the fat lady has sung as far as this matter goes.

We are very pleased that the lawsuit against us has been dismissed and cannot be filed again. Though we were never served with the lawsuit, and therefore did not have a chance to defend our names in court, we know that we never did anything wrong.

Ultimately, it is in the best interest of all parties that this dispute is resolved. We look forward to working to elect Democrats in Georgia this Fall.
