Delete the part about if it "fails;" it was already in a financial mire: "If Grady fails or flourishes, people will now know who to blame or thank."
The AJC begins its story announcing the 17-member board charged with pulling Georgia's largest public hospital out of a financial mire that threatened its existence with the comment:
"If Grady Memorial Hospital fails or flourishes, people will now know who to blame or thank."
The "fails" part should be deleted from the story. Grady had already failed. This fine and outstanding group of some of metro Atlanta's top businesses and institutions will bring a lot to the table that can lead to Grady's survival.
It is also difficult for me to imagine Grady flourishing. As we all recognize, Grady furnishes much of the area's indigent care and serves as a teaching center for Emory and Morehouse schools of medicine.
With its heavy load of uninsured patients, I will consider making Grady fiscally sound flourishing.
I am so proud to see our State -- the Empire State of the South -- step up to the plate on this important project.
