The value of Obama running with Nunn as his V.P. would be substantial.
A 2-28-08 post quotes Hamilton Jordan from a recent article in Newsweek advocating Sam Nunn becoming Secretary of State for Obama.
This post quotes Jordan as saying:
"What if Obama, in the next 30 to 60 days:
* Says he will name mainstream Democrat Sam Nunn, highly respected former senator and expert on defense issues and foreign policy (who has traveled the world for the past decade trying to contain the spread of nuclear weapons) to be his choice for Secretary of State. Here is a man who can go toe to toe with John McCain on any defense or foreign policy issue and enjoys the respect and admiration of foreign leaders around the world.
* Says he will name retiring Republican U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel, from Nebraska, war hero, successful businessman and thoughtful critic of the Iraq War, to be his Secretary of Defense to rebuild our nation's military power."
Today in The Washington Post former Democrat -- now Republican -- George Will suggests Obama should consider Sam Nunn as his running mate, noting:
"[T]he value of running with Nunn, who chaired the Senate Armed Services Committee, would be substantial."

I agree. Sam Nunn would bring instant credibility to the ticket with his expertise on foreign policy & defense & his fight to dispose loose nuclear material so terrorist won't be able to get their hands on it. Or he could go with Jim Webb of Virginia, who is a conservative democrat from a red state himself. He is pro gun, pro military democrat who would instantly along with Nunn bring white, rural males back to the democratic party.
