Congratulations from the 'Other Georgia' to downtown Atlanta: This is truly great news!!
Today the ajc reports that the metro area's leading developer Cousins Properties has agreed to buy the landmark 191 Peachtree Tower and move its headquarters there from Cobb County.
This is great news coming a day after reading that Equity Office Properties was selling all of it metro Atlanta properties and moving to greener pastures.
Though nothing is without risk, I feel confident that Cousins' purchase of this signature building will be one of the deals of the century. Cousins will pay Equity $153 million for the building, Cousins only last month having sold the Bank of America Plaza to a California group for $436 million.
But more important than this, without question this represents a true watershed moment for downtown Atlanta.
