Majette says she may run either in the 12th Congressional against Barrow or the 4th Congressional District against McKinney.
In a 4-28-05 post we reported that former Congresswoman Denise Majette may run against Congressman John Barrow in the new 12th Congressional District which appears tailor-made for an African-American challenger.
Today we learned two things. First, State Sen. Regina Thomas of Savannah won't run in the 12th, but Majette says she also is considering running for the 4th District seat she won in 2002 by ousting veteran incumbent Democrat Cynthia McKinney.
McKinney of course won the seat back last year when Majette abandoned it to launch an unsuccessful campaign for the U.S. Senate.
Disregarding her divine direction explanation, I hope I live long enough or some how get to be smart enough to figure out why Majette abandoned her 4th District seat to launch an unsuccessful campaign for the U.S. Senate.

Unfortunately for Majette, if the redistricting goes through, the new 4th district will be less urban, less white than the old 4th she won in 2002. On the other hand, there will be a lot of new voters in Rockdale County who have never voted for McKinney.
She'd have a better chance at knocking off Barrow in a primary.
Your knowledge and insight always impresses me.
