RNC Outscores Democrats in Funds. - Disparity between RNC & DNC in Jan. '05 fundraising shows benefit Bush's reelection can have day to day for GOP.

The Republican National Committee began the month with a 6-to-1 financial advantage over its Democratic counterpart, with $16.5 million in the bank compared with the Democratic National Committee's $2.6 million.

The RNC raised $10.5 million in January, according to its monthly report to the Federal Election Commission. The GOP spent $8.7 million, including a $1-million transfer to the Senate Republicans' fundraising committee and about $1 million in telemarketing, according to an analysis by Political Money Line, a nonpartisan campaign finance tracking service.

The DNC raised $4.1 million last month, based on its FEC report. It spent $7.6 million, including a donation of $1.5 million to Virginia Lt. Gov. Timothy Kaine's campaign for governor and a $1-million transfer to the Senate Democrats' fundraising committee.

I seem to remember Kerry having about $14 million left over from his campaign...

Wonder what he's doing with that?

In a 1-6-05 post I wrote:

11-20-04 post entitled "It's not for nothing that people in Mass. say JFK stands for Just For Kerry. - Kerry had $15 million squirreled away. The selfish . . .:"

The 11-19-04 Washington Post reports that Democratic "Party leaders, including some of Kerry's top campaign aides, said this week that they were surprised and angry to learn that [Kerry] had more than $15 million left in accounts from the Democratic primaries. They demanded to know why it was not spent to defeat President Bush or to help congressional candidates."

And in a 12-6-05 post I wrote::

Can you believe Kerry is forming a new fund to help his future political ambitions.

He intends to use his new PAC to donate to Democrats in local, congressional and governor's races in the next two years, as well as support promote his agenda on the environment, health care, energy and Social Security.

Thanks a lot Kerry, why didn't you do it this year when it was most needed, you selfish . . .

Note: The $14 million left over from his campaign's primary race fund -- which Kerry did not spend while running against other Democrats early in the year and wasn't able to spend it in the general election against Bush -- cannot be transferred to his new PAC.

He is doling out this amount a little here and little there now that election season is over ($250,000 this week).

Couldn't agree more with you, there. I don't mean to rehash old news, but I remember reading a transcript (Meet the Press?) in which Kerry said that they had spent enough money everywhere and he didn't think much about the leftover cash.

Obviously that worked out well, eh?

That does us a lot of good now. . .

(Thanks for the recap of your posts, by the way!)
