So you will know this weekend. - DNC gives DSCC $1 million & will give DCCC $1 million for debts, etc.
Regrouping after heavy election losses, the Democrats' Senate fund-raising operation is getting things in order.
A $1 million donation from the DNC and help from senators who gave leftover campaign funds has allowed the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (the "DSCC") to pay off its nearly $4 million in debts from the November election. The organization expects to have roughly $1 million in the bank after the bills are paid.
The House's counterpart to the DSCC is the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (the "DCCC"), and it emerged from the elections with about $10 million in debt.
The DNC said today it would donate $1 million to the House committee.
The DNC finished November with $9.8 million on hand and no debt after spending tens of millions on its unsuccessful effort to defeat President Bush. The DNC achieved record fund raising in the 2003-04 election cycle, taking in about $17 million more than the Republican National Committee from January 2003 to late November 2004.
DNC Chair Terry McAuliffe said the committee's financial health was allowing it to donate to help congressional candidates earlier than it could in past midterm election cycles.

Thank goodness for the above news, and I hope for more good news from the DNC on finances.
I reckon I shouldn't be holding my breath on any assistance from the second most influential senator from Massachusetts. You remember, he does have some funds left.
As noted in my 11-20-04 post entitled "It's not for nothing that people in Mass. say JFK stands for Just For Kerry. - Kerry had $15 million squirreled away. The selfish . . .:"
The 11-19-04 Washington Post reports that Democratic "Party leaders, including some of Kerry's top campaign aides, said this week that they were surprised and angry to learn that [Kerry] had more than $15 million left in accounts from the Democratic primaries. They demanded to know why it was not spent to defeat President Bush or to help congressional candidates."
"There were no easy answers to those questions, officials close to Kerry acknowledged yesterday . . . ."
"Some members of his campaign said the cash should have been spent to build political organizations in Ohio and Florida or to court Hispanic and black voters."
"One member of Kerry's inner circle said the failure to spend the money cost Kerry victory in a close election. Another said the fact that Kerry had $45 million in the primary campaign account in mid-October raises questions about why he did not opt out of the campaign finance system for the general election to avoid spending limits."

On JK, pretty troubling coupled with the fact we got rolled so well by Rove as you discussed a few days ago.
I understand Kerry is forming is forming a new PAC, yet to be named. The article I read- sorry i lost the link, but it was in the Boston Globe- said he would NOT be using any left over Presidential campaign money in the PAC.
I did a post on the PAC on 12-06-04. See http://crackersquire.blogspot.com/2004/12/just-for-kerry-just-doesnt-get-it-now.html
