Suck it up and appreciate that this is great news for Ga. - Sen. Saxby Chambliss to chair Senate Agriculture Committee.

Sen. Saxby Chambliss will chair the Senate Agriculture Committee when the 109th Congress convenes next month, Majority Leader Bill Frist said Monday.

Chambliss is Georgia's first chairman in either the House or Senate since Democratic Sen. Sam Nunn led the Armed Services Committee.

And we should also note that Georgia has not had a strong voice in a position of leadership on the Agriculture Committee since Talmadge lost his seat to Matt Mattingly in 1980.

This is a good day for Georgia, regardless of party affiliation. Sen. Chambliss had to give up some other important committee assignments to get this one, and his being the Chair will be a real plus for Georgia, especially the Other Georgia.
