Howard K. Smith of CBS News* moderated the first debate between John F. Kennedy and Richard M. Nixon on September 26, 1960. CBS producer Don Hewitt, who later created "60 Minutes," produced that debate.
NBC's Frank McGee moderated the second 1960 debate.
NBC’s Sander Vanocur served as a panelist in the first debate, and CBS’s Walter Cronkite served as a panelist in the fourth and final debate.

*Howard K. Smith, one of "Murrow's Boys," later became a news anchor for ABC.
