What do you think lawyers are for? Quit filing lawsuits and get your Miller Trust runnin' -- Medicaid suit

A federal court in Rome has been asked to stop Georgia from cutting off Medicaid benefits to nursing home patients who have not yet taken the legal steps necessary to comply with new rules for receiving support from the government health care program.

Days before that was to take effect, Perdue announced a 90-day reprieve which he said would allow most to create trusts to help them dispose of the excess income and, thus, qualify again for Medicaid.

The 90-day reprieve will soon expire.
_______________

Listen here Vickey Kimbrell, the Georgia Legal Services attorney who filed the suit, this South Georgia lawyer wants to give you North Georgia lawyer some advice that's worth more than you are paying for it.

Get off your butt and do the trusts. In the time it took you to prepare and file the lawsuit, including coming up with your named plaintiffs, you could have solved your clients' problems.

The bar and the state Department of Community Health have worked together in putting some Miller Trust forms online. Geez, what do you expect? Someone to fill out the forms for you.

You are wasting taxpayer money filing frivilous lawsuits. Spend your time with Georgia legislators trying to lobby to get the law changed to do away with the spend down provisions that federal law (Social Security Act) does not require but a state can implement if it chooses, not filing suits you cannot p0ssibly win.
