Galloway is on fire today: From Barnes & Obama to GOP race not about who wears lipstick, but who will govern Ga. with integrity & conviction.

Jim Galloway in the ajc's Political Insider contrasts the responses of the Karen Handel campaign to Oxendine charges with the Deal response to her campaign's charges against Deal as follows:

Republican runoff candidate Nathan Deal is up with a first mass response to successive attacks on his ethics from Karen Handel.

It is a careful piece of work.

The camera stays on Deal as he gives a measured response. No images of Handel are shown – the former congressman doesn’t give in to the temptation to replicate John Oxendine’s “bad hair” ad of the GOP primary.

In his post from today on Deal Mr. Galloway has a link to what (and I love it) he call Oxendine's "bad hair" ad of the GOP primary by Oxendine.

The link is to a post Mr. Galloway captioned "An early jolt: John Oxendine levels bad-hair TV attack on Karen Handel." In this post Mr. Galloway reviews the attack on Handel's response as follows:

Less than 12 hours after Sarah Palin endorsed former secretary of state Karen Handel, the Republican campaign for governor kicked into high gear.

Former congressman Nathan Deal and former state senator Eric Johnson of Savannah both blistered Handel with accusations that she was gay friendly and loose with the truth.

But only state Insurance John Oxendine, who as frontrunner has long kept himself above the fray, had the money to launch this bad-hair attack on TV last night – charging that, five years ago, as chairman of the Fulton County Commission, Handel voted in favor of a $425,568 allocation for Planned Parenthood:

. . . . [the ad, etc.]

The Handel campaign responded with no-holds-barred language. “John Oxendine is the most corrupt politician in Georgia’s history and is far more likely to serve a term in prison than he is to serve as Governor,” Handel spokesman Dan McLagan said.

In today's post on Deal's response to Handel Mr. Galloway writes:

Clearly, how to respond to attacks from a female candidate is on the minds of many in the Deal campaign – that showed in today’s fly-around that featured Deal with prominent GOP women.

From the prepared remarks of Joan Westmoreland, wife of the congressman:

Although I appreciate the enthusiasm for conservative ideas that Sarah Palin has been spreading across this country, I think she’s made a mistake here.

Alaska is a far cry from Georgia and I’m pretty sure Ms. Palin can’t smell our peaches from her front porch. This is not just about who wears lipstick, it’s about who will govern this state with integrity and conviction.

Sarah Palin doesn’t even know Nathan Deal, but my husband Lynn and I do!!! He is a kind, honest and generous Christian man. Like my husband Lynn, he was one of the most dependable votes in the House of Representatives for our conservative values. He is a staunch defender of the sanctity of life, and he’s endorsed by Georgia Right to Life.

I am appalled that Karen Handel would smear the name of a man who has served his nation and his state honorably for his entire life, and that is why I had to speak out today. I care about conservative values and I care about this great state, and I know that Nathan Deal is the only choice to lead the State if Georgia.

Did I neglect to mention that I love it?
