Former Gov. Roy Barnes slipped into Macon on Friday and had lunch with a few dozen area Democrats as he gears up his 2010 gubernatorial campaign.
Several well-known Democrats and public officials attended, including Macon Mayor Robert Reichert, Bibb County Commission Chairman Sam Hart, Bibb County schools Superintendent Sharon Patterson, Bibb County Sheriff Jerry Modena, Superior Court Judge Martha Christian, Monroe County Sheriff John Cary Bittick and various high-profile local donors and operatives for the Democratic Party.
