Wow! Hold the Ladder Steady. Cathy Cox raises $2.1 million in about 14 weeks.

I have been saying all eyes are on June 30 with regard to being able to see if Cathy Cox could raise the big bucks. This is a big number.

So, any truth to the rumors that Taylor will drop out now? Wasn't the only reason to be with him that he was the better fundraiser? And didn't she outraise him by about $650,000?????

Okay, fist Mark will not be dropping out no matter what happens and whoever told you that rumour is a moron. Second, while I am more than surprised at Cox's fundraising, it is hard to make a case that Cathy is a better fundraiser yet. What she got is what is called the "low-hanging fruit," the easy to get money. That comes from people who cannot wait to give to her. Now comes the real challenge, for both her and Mark. To get the checks from people who are not beating down their doors to give them up.

Well, I do know that I have heard several people say they are excited about Cathy Cox as a candidate. I have heard no real excitement about Taylor. The most I hear about him is that some people think he has the black vote locked up

No matter how desperately the Taylor partisans spin it, he's toast. Maybe 500,000 is lowhanging fruit. But in the words of Taylor's own campaign, "the first million is easy. It's the rest that's hard." By my calculations, she did a million in a month. She then went on and outraised him handily. As for "having the black vote locked up," I'll bet that turns out to be as flimsy as the evidently wrong conventional wisdom that Taylor was the better fundraiser.

Yeh, what that guy just said. Tell me with a straight face that you're excited by some insider like Mark Taylor who got horsewhipped and humilated by the GOP as soon as they took over, and now can't even perform like he boasted he could. If he's got the black vote tied up, I'll eat my hat.

There's a lot of time left in this race, folks, but there is no question that Cathy Cox has the momenteum and is the candidate with the best shot at Perdue. One of the best indicators of her strength is the amount of money she raised from less that $101.00 givers. It was far and away more than Taylor and a great indictor of grassroots support. For a while people were saying, "I like Cathy and want to support her, but she won't be able to raise the money to compete." Now that excuse is toast, and Taylor may be as well. Like a wise man said, "Don't tell a women what she can't do. She'll show you she can!"
