Women Closest to Bush Are Pro-Choice.

The Washington Post reports:

The women closest to the president support abortion rights. His mother, his wife and one of his most trusted advisors, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, all have stated that they believe Roe v. Wade should not be overturned.

pro-choice doesn't exactly equal anti-overturning-roe.

i'm anti-overturning-roe because i don't want to see women hauled into court for non-illegal medical decisions. there's a legal vacuum into which a lot of women could be sucked. it's congress' fault for not writing a law on this, like, 30 years ago.

but through the defensiveness of women who wear t-shirts that say they're proud of their abortions, pro-choice has come to mean that having an abortion is a "choice" like what you'll be having for lunch this afternoon. so i'm not "pro-choice" as defined by reactionary feminists, and i doubt bar, laura, and condi are either.
