Alabama voters could go be put in the presidential campaign spotlight beginning in 2008 under a bill that moved Tuesday within one step of final passage.
The Senate Constitution and Elections Committee approved the bill to move Alabama's presidential primary in 2008 from June to the first Saturday after the New Hampshire primary, traditionally the country's first.
